I'm going to start a new series of blog posts showing how the Internet can be used to bolster the effectiveness of your direct mail campaigns. I've always been a firm believer that advertising works best when you coordinate multiple activities and use them in concert to bring new clients to your business. I talked a little bit about this in an earlier post "Marketing: Active, Passive & PR." In this series we will look at specifically how direct mail and the Internet can work together to make your marketing more effective.

I never thought I would miss having to pay a huge Yellow Page's bill. But, with most people going to Google now instead of the yellow pages, it's a much different world. A lot of what you need to do now, while technically "free," makes the yellow pages look like it was a bargain basement special. Time is valuable, and most of this new stuff is very time consuming.

I agree completely. The combining of direct mail and the internet is a must. Direct mail marketing is one of the most targeted and effective forms of advertising. The combination of direct mail and the internet will yield explosive results. Using PURL's (a personalized website created from the mailing list purchased) allows the prospect to respond to your offer online. This making them able to respond easier and in real time.
